Fall Favorite: Foraged Floral Arrangement

With summer loosening its grip, it’s only natural to start searching for cozy comforts. But if you are not quite ready to give up the outdoors completely, consider kicking off the fall season with a fall favorite: rustic floral arrangements. We will showcase other fall trends in subsequent blogs, but today’s topic delves into creating a centerpiece that can be built up with pumpkins and candles as the season progresses.

Rustic/Foraged Floral Arrangements

While dried flowers can find their place in a home year-round, a rustic, or foraged, arrangement can signal a crispness in the air. It’s good to start with a few potential locations where your centerpiece will live; depending on the size and weight of the vessel, you may want to situate it at eye-level and not in danger of tipping over.

The pot itself is as important as the foraged branches or twigs. Enhance the arrangement by opting for pots with distressed or ombre hues for extra texture. For a sleeker look, use an amber glass vase. Consider placing a string of small LED-lights at the bottom for an evening glow. Support your local pottery artisans or try one of the vendors for ethically sourced pots.

When creating your foraged arrangement and staying on trend, there are a few essential elements: color, texture, and shape. Like our fall fashion color palette, home decor is also donning rich hues such as burgundy and dark brown balanced with mustard yellow. Select textured pieces with bold details, such as veined pods or leaves. Lastly, invite your arrangement to show movement like leaves falling to the ground, the more twists and quirky the better.

Be prepared to spend a little money on sustainable versions. If on a budget, the centerpiece will still make an impact wtih a few branches.

Happy foraging!
